Our Sumatra Double Vaughn Dutch is grown by smallholder farmers on the Indonesian island and gets its bold personality from wet-hulling, a local method where the beans are hulled while still damp. That step gives Sumatran coffee its signature heavy body and deep, rustic character.
The name comes with a Midwest story. Our importer in Kansas City named this lot after Vaughn Neblock, who started buying green coffee for Folgers in 1945 at just 18 years old. He went on to train some of the earliest specialty coffee pioneers, and Sumatra was always his favorite.
In the cup, expect dark chocolate, warm spice, and a smoky finish, all on a full, rich body. It's a campfire-under-the-stars kind of coffee, made for cool nights and slow mornings.
The coffee roaster is amazing. Sumatra was a very good for not too strong and definitely tasted amazing.
Excellent flavor. Very smooth.
Absolutely the best. I treasure this blend at home. It is nice earthy with a dash of choco at the end
I got a small bag to try this out. The first pot was too bitter. I use a French press, and the second pot I cut back on the beans. Much better, less bitter, but still not my favorite.
Ok, our Topeka so far can’t be beat. But we have you a try
