ABOUT THIS COFFEE
This is Sumatra Mandheling Grade 1—a classic Indonesian profile built for comfort: full-bodied, low-acid, and deeply layered. “Mandheling” is a trade name often used for wet-hulled (giling basah) Sumatran coffees, a processing style that helps create that signature syrupy body and rustic sweetness.
In the cup, expect dark chocolate, cedar, sweet tobacco-like richness, and warm spice, with a grounding earthy finish that makes Sumatra… Sumatra. We like this one as a “slow sip” coffee—equally happy as a drip brew or something sturdier like French press.

Gregory Pentecost I got a small bag to try this out. The first pot was too bitter. I use a French press, and the second pot I cut back on the beans. Much better, less bitter, but still not my favorite.
