ABOUT THIS COFFEE
This is Sumatra Mandheling Grade 1—a classic Indonesian profile built for comfort: full-bodied, low-acid, and deeply layered. “Mandheling” is a trade name often used for wet-hulled (giling basah) Sumatran coffees, a processing style that helps create that signature syrupy body and rustic sweetness.
In the cup, expect dark chocolate, cedar, sweet tobacco-like richness, and warm spice, with a grounding earthy finish that makes Sumatra… Sumatra. We like this one as a “slow sip” coffee—equally happy as a drip brew or something sturdier like French press.

Doug Been drinking Sumatra bean coffee since late 1970's, before people really understood the difference in coffee (as a whole), the Roaster does a wonderful job bringing the flavor properly out. I love the work they do here, fine a bean that you like, give up on the Foo-Foo ones, look for a bean or mixture you drink black every day.
