Chemex unbleached filters are renowned for their heavy-duty construction

Chemex unbleached filters are renowned for their heavy-duty construction, being 20-30% thicker than standard coffee filters. This thickness is a game-changer for pour-over enthusiasts, as it effectively traps fine sediment and oils, delivering the signature Chemex clarity in the cup—crisp, clean, and free of bitterness. The unbleached filters are made from natural, untreated paper, which appeals to those prioritizing eco-friendliness and avoiding chemical residues from bleached alternatives. They’re compostable, aligning with sustainable coffee practices. The conical shape (available in pre-folded circles or squares) ensures a snug fit in 6-, 8-, or 10-cup Chemex brewers, preventing grounds from sneaking past during brewing—a frustration you’ve likely encountered with lesser filters.

The Value of Chemex Coffee

So, i have been drinking bean coffee since 1980, and tried many types. The expresso is ok for a singular bean type, not good for other lessor beans. Drip is good for Maxwell House pre-ground coffee, but it is only good for good beans if you immediately remove it from grounds and drink or put in thermos.

Chemex, by method, is a 4 min pour over, and then drink.. so it is fresh, and the after-acid does not occur. there are others like what i know as a Italian expresso maker (Milano Moka Pot | Stovetop Espresso Percolator) are good, and will not burn coffee, like an expresso, but are small.

SO for us, 2 good cups of coffee at once, then Chemex is the way to go. The filter being pre-set, are=designed for Chemex and work the best, most coffee goes through 3 filters.
