Kenyan coffee is renowned for being organized and sold in small volumes from specific estates or washing stations, referred to as "factories." While single-factory lots represent the highest quality, Kenya’s coffee exports follow a wide distribution pattern similar to other coffee-producing countries, with microlots at the top and bulk volumes comprising the larger shipments. Microlots hold a significant proportion of the market, but the bulk market remains substantial.
The AA FAQ coffee is a blend from select producing groups across Kenya’s central counties. In Kenya, "FAQ" stands for "fair to average quality," a cup quality designation rather than a physical grade. Combined with the physical grade "AA" (screen sizes 17-18), Kenya offers interchangeable preparations and cup qualities. Each exporter’s quality team selects appropriate coffees to fit the system's expectations, resulting in unique final blends.
Our calculator assumes 8oz cup with 10g coffee, but you may use more or less depending on your strength preference. This is just an estimation.
